The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation

Current residence: Las Vegas, NV, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to open additional doors to future career possibilities. And because the only way to begin a career in the Library and Information Science field is by holding a Masters degree.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My daughter and mother.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All around the world and across the nation.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility, the challenge of being disciplined enough to allot time for deadlines and schedule meetings with classmates because it is easy to get distracted and the ability to work a full time schedule and be able to complete school from home opposed to wasting time commuting to a campus that is far away from home.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The classmates I met, the amazing collaborative projects I worked on, and having inspiring professors that were there to help and somehow managed to keep learning fun even though the courses were extremely challenging and demanding.

I plan to use my degree to:

Move farther up the ladder at my current place of employment. Down the line I would love to utilize my Teacher Librarian credentials. And maybe one day I will land my dream job at the Margaret Herrick Library.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Taking a break from learning before pursuing my Doctorate degree. And really just enjoying the time this will free up for me so I may focus it on my creative writing.
