PROFILE

Current residence: Los Angeles, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I've always enjoyed the experience of being a student and I was excited to participate in a discipline-focused graduate program.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

my family, especially my parents.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

all over the world. The beauty of a distance learning program.

What I liked best about online learning was:

nearly everything about it. I appreciated the location and asynchronous flexibility of the program itself. I also enjoyed using message boards for class discussions as well as all the myriad emerging (learning) technologies I was encouraged to engage because of the lack of physical shared space and materials. I feel that I really had a chance to hone my reference abilities because of the inherent reliance on web-based sources.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

the courses and instructors. I feel lucky I had so many passionate and accessible instructors and was able to take a variety of interesting and informative classes.

I plan to use my degree to:

work as a reference and information literacy instruction librarian in an academic library.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

working in an academic library where I can bring many of the ideas contained in my coursework to fruition in ways that genuinely benefit my students and foster their capacity for infinite learning. In turn, I’m equally committed to furthering my own infinite learning, seeking professional development opportunities, conducting meaningful research, embracing emerging technologies, and committing to the consistent and necessary evolution of the information profession informed by the skills, philosophies, insights, and knowledge I gained through my experience at the School of Information.
