The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2018

PROFILE

Current residence: Exeter, Canada

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I was already working in a library as a branch manager. I wanted my degree to match my professional career. I also plan to continue to learn and grow beyond the completion of my MLIS degree.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

my children, family, friends and coworkers. I couldn't have done it without their support and patience!

While in the program, I met classmates from:

North America and around the globe.

What I liked best about online learning was:

the flexibility of the program. While completing my degree, I was working full time while raising three children as a single parent. I needed flexibility!

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

the online platform that allowed for interactions with my classmates and professors. I never really felt like I was working in isolation at my computer!

I plan to use my degree to:

continue to work in the library where I manage three branches and serve the communities that I love for as long as they let me!

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

free time! I am excited to read more and spend quality time with family and loved ones. I feel like I will also now have more energy for my work in the library.
