The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2018

PROFILE

Current residence: San Diego, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to add to my professional skills. I worked in public libraries many years ago as an undergrad, but I left to pursue a career in publishing. After many years in that profession, I wanted to pursue more opportunities, and this MLIS program seemed like the perfect fit. Plus, I have always wanted to earn a Master's degree!

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My husband, Glenn, most especially and my son, Jacob. Many thanks to both of you for putting up with my absences and busy schedule! Also, my family, friends, and co-workers and supervisor at my last job.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All over the United States.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility of learning and studying wherever and whenever I could. (For example, on the ferry while commuting to work and at night once everyone else went to sleep.)

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

Learning about various aspects of library and information sciences, discovering new technologies and resources, and meeting and hearing from other students about their experiences.

I plan to use my degree to:

Find and grow into a career that I love, and help people discover the information that they need.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Putting what I've learned into practice at a new job and having more free time to pursue other things I'm interested in. It's all a part of life-long learning!
