PROFILE
Current residence: Fairfield, CA, US
I wanted to earn a masters degree because:
My dream is to become a librarian. The library is the one place I always felt comfortable growing up. It was a second home. Having worked for libraries for the past almost five years, my dream was confirmed. It is a career I believe is highly necessary for the community, and one I will enjoy for the next several decades.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My family, friends, and the Solano County Library staff were my greatest supporters. Family and friends were supportive of my constant need to work on assignments, and the Solano County Library staff went above and beyond in answering my many, many questions and providing me with significant advice.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All over. Many of them were from California, just like me. However, it was nice to connect with people on similar path. It was beneficial to learn from their backgrounds, and the information they've discovered.
What I liked best about online learning was:
I have learned via the online environment for the past several years. I love it because it is in my control. I am able to work on things at my convenience from anywhere with an Internet connection. As long as you're organized and committed online learning is advantageous to completing one's degree.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
It was an honor to have served as the Social Media Director for the SJSU SLA Student Group. Social media is something I enjoy, and truly believe can enhance the services of libraries. It was terrific working with my peers, and getting to know them over time.<br />

However, I most enjoyed my final assignment for INFO 263, Children's Materials. The assignment called for a review of a multitude of Children's materials suitable for ages 0-8. These materials were my favorite to read. It was amazing to reread about Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins, the wackiness of Wayside School, and many more.
I plan to use my degree to:
Become a librarian for Solano County Library. I grew up in their libraries, and spent many days there while I was homeschooled. I have worked there since 2013 in various titles, and look forward to the day I can one day be a librarian for them.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
I am looking forward to being officially done with school. I will always continue learning, and expanding my knowledge but it is nice to be done submitting assignments on a semester basis. I look forward to eventually getting hired as a librarian, and advancing my career. I look forward to loving life as a librarian.
