The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation

PROFILE

Current residence: Ottawa, Canada

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to help members of my community access information while empowering them with the skills needed to think critically about that information.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

I would like to thank my partner, Melissa, for her patience and kindness as I spent the past three years working toward my degree. She has read and heard me talk about my coursework and the profession more than I think she would have liked. There is no doubt in my mind she could hold her own in a conversation with librarians. I would like to thank my family who have always supported my decision to follow my dreams and pursue an education and career that makes me happy and proud to be apart of. My father, Frank, my mother, Diana, and my awesome brother, Kyle, were all instrumental in realizing my dream and passions in life.

What I liked best about online learning was:

Online learning forced me to manage my time effectively and was one of the most rewarding aspects of the program. While completing my degree online I was balancing a full time job in an academic library, as well as balancing my personal life outside of school and work.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Sharing my library experience with colleagues locally, nationally and internationally is one of the things I most look forward to now that I have completed my degree. I look forward to being an active voice in the library and information profession.
