The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2018

PROFILE

Current residence: Albuquerque, NM, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

It's the best way for me to serve my community and advocate for better access to information and improved education and literacy.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My husband, Richard; my mom, Susan; my mother- and father-in-law, Tom and Gretchen; my siblings, Megan, David, & Becky; my sister- and brother-in-law, Beth and David; my many friends, including Stephanie & Leo, Abbey & Thomas, Sarah & Alex, Maggie, and Anna; Drs. Davis-Secord & Graham; my cat, Hamilton; and, finally, Dr. Donna Allen, who inspired me to consider library science as a career in the first place!

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All over the world, but mostly from California :)

What I liked best about online learning was:

I didn't have to leave my beautiful home in Albuquerque, NM.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The usefulness of the classes; I am confident that I will enter the workforce with a good balance of theory and practical experience!

I plan to use my degree to:

Serve the people of New Mexico and help them with their information needs. I would ideally like to do this in a library setting at a university, government, or non-profit institution.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Reading for fun and catching up on my new(ish) hobby of cross stitching!
