The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2018

PROFILE

Current residence: Union City, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I'm a lifelong learner who considers the public library my home away from home. Earning a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science makes it possible for me to work in an environment I love while inspiring others to pursue their goals and become lifelong learners.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My four children were my greatest supporters, (or motivators) they just wanted me to finish.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

California (my home state) as well as Arizona, Alaska, and Australia.

What I liked best about online learning was:

I was able to balance my coursework, with my home/life schedule.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

Working in groups was something I initially dreaded, however after working collaboratively to complete large tasks helped me to gain an appreciation for it. Learning how to communicate and collaborate appropriately in an online environment has been one of my favorite and most valuable learning experiences.

I plan to use my degree to:

Hopefully gain employment at a public library where I can serve the general public by providing them with organized, relevant, and accurate information.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Spending more quality time with my family; joining the local writers' group; completing writing projects, connecting with information professionals online and growing my professional network.
