The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2018

PROFILE

Current residence: Butler, PA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

when I began working in a library, I felt like I had finally "come home". I knew in order to have a future in libraries, I needed to obtain my MLIS.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My husband, and my two dogs who snuggled with me as I did many of my assignments.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

Everywhere! Sure, a lot of you are from California, but I have met people from all over the US and several other countries.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility! I was able to work full time and go to school. This allowed me to get experience while completing my degree, which was invaluable.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The broad pool of talent in the form of the instructors. I got to experience some truly wonderful instructors, who challenged me and really helped me discover my professional goals.

I plan to use my degree to:

continue working in my current library system and gaining experience with in youth services.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

reading for pleasure again, and getting involved with professional organizations.
