I've been working in libraries for about 10 years. It was time to dive deeper as well as expand my knowledge and experience into the archives! I am grateful I went through this program and expanded my library and information science knowledge!
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My two cats Pimienta and Horchata, my partner Diego, my friends and family, my fellow SJSU peers and professors, and all the library teams I have been a part of. Thank you all!
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All over the USA and Canada from all kinds of different ethnic backgrounds.
What I liked best about online learning was:
I really liked the flexibility that this online program affords. You can set your own pace which is helpful when you have competing priorities like a full time job, multiple jobs, family priorities, and trying to balance a decent social life. We are online now more than ever and this online program has prepared me for the new digital and remote age we are going into.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
I enjoy learning so it was great to go further into different library topics and specialties. Practicing collaboration, presentation skills, and new technologies were what stands out the most to me when reflecting on the program and different projects we completed.
I plan to use my degree to:
I plan to be a librarian doing either access services or metadata and cataloging work in either an academic library or special collections library.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
I am looking forward to meeting my daughter who is due in September 2025 and having more time to chill on the weekends.
