I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to earn an MLIS because I’m passionate about preserving knowledge, supporting literacy, and connecting people with resources. I believe in the power of libraries to create inclusive, educational spaces that serve and enrich communities. With an MLIS, I can contribute to my community, promote lifelong learning, and help preserve stories and history for future generations.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My greatest supporters were my family, friends, and community. Their encouragement and belief in me made all the difference throughout my journey.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

In this program, I met classmates from all over the country, broadening my understanding of the domestic information community. Their diverse perspectives deepened my insights into the varied needs and challenges of different communities.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

What I enjoyed most about the MLIS iSchool at SJSU was the freedom to incorporate my own passions and interests into my studies and research. I was able to explore topics like my local community, emerging technologies such as AR/VR, and even AI, which made my education feel highly relevant. This approach helped me tailor my learning to areas I’m passionate about, enhancing both my academic experience and professional growth.

I plan to use my degree to:

I plan to use my degree to continue working for my local library, supporting my community’s growth and access to knowledge. Hopefully, one day, I’ll have the opportunity to conduct my own academic research, contributing to the field and expanding the understanding of library science and its impact on communities.

Now that I’ve completed this program, I plan to work in the information profession and see where my journey in public service and the spreading of helpful information takes me. I’m excited to contribute to my community, explore new opportunities, and continue learning as I serve others through access to knowledge and resources.
