Christine Reinke:
I'm so proud of you! Your hard work and dedication has paid off. I pray that you continue your educational journey and accomplish what you want to do. There have been so many obstacles but you still persevered. You are a great inspiration and always know I'm always in your corner and will always have your back.❤️
Janet VanDreel:
Stacy, you are an inspiration and I’m honored to say I know you. What a hard won accomplishment that you have achieved even though at times it seemed things were stacked against you and your strive to further your education. I am very proud of you and more importantly, I hope you have time to reflect and celebrate YOU and all of your hard work.
As I have shared with you, as young adults (attending UWGB) I was impressed with your dedication to learning and furthering your knowledge not for a degree but to further your commitment to gaining knowledge. When at that time, so many of us, were focused on obtaining a degree and not really the education that supposedly comes with that degree. You even then , were focused on the larger picture and realized before many of us, especially me, that the education is the key component not the degree itself.
I recall asking you the standard question at the time , “what are you going to school for “ and instead of responding Social Justice Studies or a nursing or science degree, you responded “for an education “. That one comment had a profound effect on my own college experience many years later. As I returned to school many years later instead of focusing on the degree I focused on my education experience and I contribute that focus on a a off handed remark you made and as we discussed that you don’t recall saying. You are proof that a persons response or interaction even seemingly small may have a huge impact on another person’s life journey.
You not only made that statement as a young adult but you have shown through your adult life through your profession and your quest for knowledge that you not only talk the talk but walk the walk with preservation even when things seemed stacked against you and impossible you not only survived but succeeded and are an inspiration to me and I’m sure others as well. Be very proud of yourself and take a moment to bask in your accomplishments!
Teresa Ross:
My first interaction with Stacy was a result oh her being a midwife and welcoming my beloved grandson into this world. I was beyond impressed with her demeanor, knowledge and the ability to remain calm and exude that calm, positive energy to all of us present. That interaction did not end after Bruce was born. She has essentially become a welcome presence at family gatherings. Social media has been a vehicle for sharing different parts of our lives and I am aware of many obligations and hurdles Stacy has gone through out of love for others. I am in awe of what she has done to further her own education for the benefit of not only herself but what she can offer the world.

I am a research admin in NJ. This might seem kind of random. But... after my VBAC I began listening to midwifery podcasts and your episode with Augustine Colebrook brought me to tears. I have been following you on social media ever since. Congratulations on your degree! Your work is immensely important.
Keith Lyons:
I've known you for many years. You have always been a dedicated and ethical person who cares about people and the environment. You've always been committed to learning and understanding and communicating. Our exchanges over the past years on social media have been not only enjoyable but also beneficial when it comes to sharing and exploring new ideas. You are definitely a person whose opinion I am always excited to hear and then to think about them. I thank you for this. I wish you success and enjoyment in all of your endeavors! PROFILE
Current residence: GREEN BAY, WI, US
I wanted to earn a masters degree because:
It has always been my dream to pursue academic excellence. I find great joy and purpose in the challenges of research, discourse, writing, and applying my findings to real-world problems.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My late father and grandparents, Donald Vandenput and Robert and Marvel Elbe, who supported me posthumously through their legacy of belief in my capabilities and by modeling commitment, diligence, and conscious effort. My mom, Nancy Vandenput, who witnessed the start of this journey but sadly passed away before its completion. My companion, Steven M. Whalen—despite his long illness—has remained a gentle spirit who reminds me to laugh. My children and grandchildren inspired me, and the faculty, advisors, and students in my cohort pushed me to grow beyond my perceived limits.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
Across North America, Europe, and Asia.
What I liked best about online learning was:
It integrated seamlessly with my life, allowing me to study without uprooting my routines. My familiar, home-based environment minimized stress and freed my mind for deep intellectual engagement.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
Immersing myself in a completely new subject area. My previous career had reached its nadir, and diving deeply into this next chapter gave me a renewed sense of purpose and belonging.
I plan to use my degree to:
Strengthen my authority in my field and lay the foundation for future publishing, teaching, consulting, collaboration, and research.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Tending to personal matters. After my mother’s passing and Steven’s diagnosis with a life-limiting illness, I’ve been in a prolonged season of caregiving. I look forward to breathing, healing, and reorienting. In time, I hope to publish in reputable journals, expand my voice among peers and scholars, and prepare for PhD enrollment by 2027. First, though, I intend to prioritize my own health and social needs.
