PROFILE

Current residence: Modesto, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to deepen my impact as an educator and build inclusive, student-centered spaces rooted in access, equity, and literacy. Earning my MLIS gave me the tools to lead change in my school library, district, and community.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My family, my students—who constantly reminded me why this work matters—and my colleagues and professors who encouraged my ideas and fueled my growth.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All over the country and beyond! Our diverse perspectives enriched every discussion and reminded me how flexible, creative, and powerful this profession truly is.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility to balance work, family, and school while applying what I learned in real time. I appreciated the ability to connect with a dynamic learning community while still working full-time in my school library.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The way theory and practice came together. Many courses pushed me to think critically and creatively, and I always felt supported in tailoring assignments to meet the real needs of the students I serve.

I plan to use my degree to:

Continue transforming my school library into a vibrant, inclusive space for literacy and learning—and to advocate for equitable access to resources, representation, and support for all students and school libraries.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Exploring new professional opportunities, mentoring future librarians, and continuing to build a library where students feel safe, seen, and inspired to grow.
