The degree of

Virtual Convocation

PROFILE

Current residence: Arlington, VA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

Although I was already well into a career as an information professional, I wanted to update my education and gain new skills in the field that would help me perform even better and open new doors.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My partner Wilhelm Bierbaum, my family, and my friends and co-workers. Thank you so much for your support!

While in the program, I met classmates from:

Across the United States and Canada (and occasionally other countries), with a majority located in California; however, there were even a surprising number in Virginia and the metro DC area where I am.

What I liked best about online learning was:

Online courses may require more proof of engagement with the material than face-to-face programs, but this results in more interaction and interesting discussion with other classmates. Also, the greater flexibility possible in scheduling is the only way I was able to attend while working full-time and moving from California to Virginia.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

There are so many course options for learning whatever may be of interest, with offerings including new technologies. The program allows a lot of freedom as to directions for projects and research, so it is possible to adapt them to your interests.

I plan to use my degree to:

Be the best I can be at my current job and any others that may come down the line. I believe my education also prepares me for continued education, whether self-directed or as part of a class.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Transitioning in my position at work from an intern to a career status employee, new opportunities ahead, and more free time.
