The degree of
Master of Library and Information Science
Virtual Convocation
2017
PROFILE
Current residence: Port Jefferson Station, NY, US
I wanted to earn a masters degree because:
“I have an unshaken conviction that democracy can never be undermined if we maintain our library resources and a national intelligence capable of utilizing them."<br />
Franklin D. Roosevelt<br />
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
I have so much gratitude to my friends, family, mentors, fellow students and professors. Without their support these past few years, I could not have achieved this major accomplishment in my life. A special thanks to Michael Stursberg, who never stopped believing in me, and for that, I am forever grateful.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
Many different backgrounds and countries. What a joy to meet so many wonderful, inspiring and smart people!
What I liked best about online learning was:
One of my favorite parts of the online learning experience was having the opportunity to mentor and assist incoming MLIS graduate students. In addition, I enjoyed doing online presentations and getting to be creative, while helping students and professors with fun technologies.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
The open exchange of ideas with interesting professors and fellow students, on how we can strengthen our library services and connect with the community.
I plan to use my degree to:
Work towards becoming a public librarian, where I can take part in providing excellent service to my community.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Starting my career, teaching technology to people in a fun and exciting way, performing outreach and developing technology literacy workshops. I'm also looking forward to having the time to spend with my nephews and niece and traveling again. I can't wait to have a fun Summer with my dogs!
