The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2017

PROFILE

Current residence: Monrovia, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

Libraries, with their dedication to open sharing of information and satisfying the seeker's curiosity, have a fundamental philosophy that I find empowering and exciting. After volunteering at my local public library for several years, I wanted to learn more about libraries "behind the scenes." How do you organize knowledge? How do you connect people to the right resources? These questions motivated me in pursing my degree.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The convenience and ability to take classes from any location and to fit in coursework around my work schedule.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The fascinating and educational classes I got to take. Some of my favorites were:
- The History of Books and Libraries
- The History of Youth Literature
- Makerspaces
- Information Literacy and Learning

I plan to use my degree to:

Be an educated citizen of the world.
