PROFILE

Current residence: San Francisco, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I am working as a school librarian in San Francisco. I needed to complete my teacher librarian credentials, but was also interested in earning the masters to have the ability to work in the public sector.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My mom. She proofread my papers, acted as cheerleader and took care of my kids (along with my dad) while I studied. My family was also an invaluable support, while I scarfed down my dinner to make a synchronous class, or hurried through bedtime to do my homework. Thank you.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

Canada, Guatemala, Texas, Maine, New York, Tennessee, Los Angeles, Seattle, and more.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The ability to access information at all hours and the flexibility to complete it when I had time. I was able to participate in summer classes while in Costa Rica and China, navigating challenging time zones!

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

I loved my internship with Librarians Without Borders. I plan to continue working with them to support librarians in Guatemala and beyond.

I plan to use my degree to:

Continue the job that I love; working with young people and igniting a fierce love of learning.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Cooking! Reading for pleasure! With some dance classes thrown in for spice and balance!
