The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2017

PROFILE

Current residence: Carson, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I love libraries and archives. I've always believed everyone has a right to access materials and I want to do what I can to help people and preserve memory.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My family and friends. My parents and siblings stuck by me (and dealt with my late-night work habits) from day one and I'm sure they all breathed a similar sigh of relief after I finally submitted my ePortfolio. My friends helped keep me grounded and provided mental breaks when they were necessary. Most importantly, they were there to help me when I was frustrated with my writing or the direction a project was taking. They were more than happy to help provide an outsider's opinion when I felt stuck and I am forever grateful for them.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All across the country (and even the world!). Planning and conducting meetings when classmates were from different time zones was an experience in itself, but it was fun to learn about everyone's different backgrounds.

What I liked best about online learning was:

Being able to complete coursework on my own time in the comfort of my home.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

Everything. I don't think there is one thing I that I liked more than the other. Everything I learned, read about, and utilized during my time here at SJSU helped create a well-rounded experience for me.

I plan to use my degree to:

Find a job in a library or archive where I can provide access and contribute to the preservation, conservation, and management of materials for users.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

A well deserved nap!
