PROFILE

Current residence: Chicago, IL, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

To me, a Master’s Degree was the next step that I wanted to take in my education. It wasn’t necessarily a career goal-based decision; it was more of a personal goal.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My greatest supporters during this experience were my family, my friends, my co-workers, and managers, but also the faculty and staff at San Jose State University. Everyone outside the university understood when I couldn’t do things, like go somewhere or if had to take time away, so I could get my classwork done. Everyone at the University has been extremely helpful and supportive, by taking the time to answer my questions or showing me how to do something better. I appreciate everyone for how they tried to help me do this.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

While in this program, I interacted with students and faculty members from all over the world. It was fascinating to learn how they planned to use their degree where they were located.

What I liked best about online learning was:

I love learning online. It's not just the flexibility that I like, but it's also all the work you have to do to perform the same tasks that you would do in a class on a campus. When you take an online course, you still have to make time to do the various activities, and most likely you’re doing them on your own. It tests your time management skills and learning styles. As an online student, you need to make sure that you give yourself enough time to do something and do it well before it is due, because you may not be able to correct it and submit it again.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

I enjoyed my experience at San Jose State University's School of Information. What I loved most was learning something new each semester. Two skills that I learned which stand out to me are learning to develop a website and the basics of cataloging.

I plan to use my degree to:

I want to help college students, preferably online or distance students, have access to the resources they may need in their education. These students not only need access to the right resources, but they also need to know how to find them and how to use them.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Now that I am graduating, I am looking forward to finding my place in an academic library. That's really something that I can't wait to do.
