Pursuing a higher level of education and building a career in public librarianship have always been personal dreams of mine.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My parents provided me with a rock-solid foundation of support and encouragement in my pursuit of this achievement, and I will be forever grateful to them. I am also grateful for the love and support of my brothers and sisters who have always been there to help me even during the rockiest parts of my journey.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All over the world! Many of the classmates I've met come from all over the United States. I have also met students who were working in Italy and India.
What I liked best about online learning was:
Its flexibility. With online learning, I can schedule my coursework around work and life responsibilities and still succeed academically.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
The variety of classes offered by the iSchool. This allowed me to tailor my coursework to support my chosen career path. Also, this variety allowed me to gain valuable insight regarding other information professions. One highlight was the class Archives and Manuscripts, which introduced me to the archival profession.
I plan to use my degree to:
I plan on pursuing a career as a youth services librarian. I look forward to using the skills I've learned relating to both youth services and public librarianship to serve the community and assist children and teens find the resources and information they need.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Finding a librarian position that allows me to develop exciting youth programs and help people fulfill their information needs. Right after I spend a well-deserved vacation at the beach!
