Master of Library and Information Science

PROFILE

Current residence: San José, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

after only six months of shelving books, I no longer saw working in the library as a detour, but rather the intended journey.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

my partner, Isaac; my colleagues at SJPL; and all the library patrons who provided fodder for countless assignments.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

my past (an acquaintance from my undergraduate alma mater), my present (a co-worker who became a friend), and my future: (those who I re-encountered in my cohort of newly-hired librarians).

What I liked best about online learning was:

the flexibility and being able to attend class from any location I pleased, particularly the top floor of King Library.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

being able to take a variety of classes and appreciating how many options the field has to offer.

I plan to use my degree to:

begin my career as a librarian.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

no longer rushing to submit assignments before 11:59 p.m!
