The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2019

PROFILE

Current residence: Carlsbad, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I had worked in libraries for several years and I knew that this is the field I wanted to stay in. In order to become an official librarian you need this master’s degree, so it was a natural next step.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My boyfriend Michael, my parents, my family and friends.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All over the world as well as my hometown, which was exciting. I had a couple coworkers who were in the program as well and it was nice to commiserate with them in person.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility. I was able to work full time in a library while completing my coursework. I was also able to choose the courses that best fit my interests.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The webinars that were presented on interesting topics with guest lecturers and the opportunities that the Special Library Association Student Chapter gave us. I was able to go to UCSD to shadow academic librarians and see the special library and archives at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park!

I plan to use my degree to:

Become a full-fledged librarian! I would like to work either in an academic library or in the children’s department of a public library

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Not having to do homework after work and reading for pleasure.
