PROFILE

Current residence: Blacksburg, VA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

In short, I wanted to earn my masters degree because I fell in love with working at libraries and I wanted to ensure that I could have upwards mobility in the field.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

I can’t thank my parents enough for continuing to stand behind me and support me in whatever I do. They have always, always, always been there for me and love me endlessly. I am really thankful for my dear friends, near and far, who have been there to make me laugh and who garner infinite support. I would also be nowhere without my coworkers at my library. Their guidance, support, and sheer joy in what you do are why I’m here getting my degree in the first place. Because I want to be like them, and I could never repay them for helping me find my way.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

I met classmates from as far away as Canada but also classmates who lived as close to me as North Carolina. I even met classmates who went to my undergraduate alma mater, Virginia Tech!

What I liked best about online learning was:

I loved the flexibility that the iSchool gave me to pursue my degree while also working.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The fact that the iSchool was offered as a 100% online degree program I think allowed for a more inclusive experience for all of us. It enabled so many people from different places and perspectives to come together and better share more diverse expertise and insights. I think that's something inherently unique to the iSchool's program. I also REALLY enjoyed attending iSchool receptions at national library conferences. It was fun getting to meet professors, fellow students, and alumni from the school in person.

I plan to use my degree to:

I hope to continue moving upwards in electronic resource management at university libraries. I look forward to using my digital asset management concentration to further develop the technical aspects of the field.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

I am really excited to start my professional career as a librarian. I am personally up for the challenge of taking on anything in librarianship but would love to further excel at academic institutions. I don't know what the future holds just yet, but I feel more confident than ever that I have chosen the right field. I can't wait to see what it has in store for me.
