Lisa Lowdermilk: @Anthony Bernier: Thank you, Anthony! I'm hard-pressed to think of a way SRJ can improve--it's an awesome journal. :) But I will let you know if I think of something!

The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2019

PROFILE

Current residence: Colorado Springs, CO, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to become a more efficient researcher, as I enjoy writing in my spare time. Also, I've dreamed of becoming a librarian since I was little.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

Everyone was very supportive--teachers and classmates alike! My mom has been my biggest supporter, though--she encouraged me to get my MLIS right from the start. Without her, I wouldn't have gone back to school in the first place.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All over the world -- Belgium, China, Japan, and Canada, to name but a few, as well as some classmates in my hometown

What I liked best about online learning was:

The freedom! I loved being able to work ahead if I wanted to and attend class in my pajamas.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

I really loved taking Scratch programming! I've wanted to design video games for a long time now, but I was always intimidated by programming. Scratch helped me realize that dream. I also really enjoyed being an editor for SRJ and the LIS Publications Wiki.

I plan to use my degree to:

Become an adult services librarian (but I'm open to other opportunities as well)

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Graduation! Haha, seriously, I'm really looking forward to seeing SJSU's campus for the first time, meeting my instructors and fellow classmates, etc. After that, I'm looking forward to having a job I'm truly passionate about.
