PROFILE

Current residence: Hemlaya, Lebanon

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

When I decided to go back to school, I initially thought I will stop once I get the undergraduate degree. However, after earning my undergraduate degree in Information and Library Studies from Aberystwyth University in the UK, I felt that there was so much remaining to learn about the topic, especially that a graduate degree will provide me with the opportunity to do research on niche topics. Therefore, I wanted to earn a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an American university so that I can have a heterogeneous knowledge and practical application of the library science field.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

I am so lucky for my greatest supporters were Charla Chebl, my colleague, best friend, and wife for immensely helping me and being proud of all my accomplishments and for my parents who stood by my side and cheered me from the first day until I finished my degree.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

While in the program, I had the opportunity of working with students from around the world, especially from the United States and Korea. We respected and learned from each other’s diverse cultures, we shared our experiences, and shared the different work environments and career pathways.

What I liked best about online learning was:

I am a big fan of online education as it makes learning more convenient for students. While in the program, I was the co-author of an article that we published in a peer-reviewed journal about the employer's perceptions of online degrees in library science across the Arab world. At SJSU, the online learning was generally a memorable one. The Learning Management System (LMS) was used efficiently and the courses were well structured and made the learning process enjoyable.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

In addition to the courses and course materials, what I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was the connections and networking opportunities with classmates and professors. I became good friends with many classmates outside the coursework and I became friends with several forward-thinking professors and pioneers in the LIS field.

I plan to use my degree to:

I plan to use my degree to get promoted.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Now that I have completed the program, I look forward to enjoy some time off before I explore my options for a PhD.
