The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2019

PROFILE

Current residence: Brisbane, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I made the decision to make a mid-career shift back to libraries and take the leap to become a librarian, a career I always thought I'd love

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

Professor Michael Stephens, my supervisor, Geralyn O'Brien, my classmate and fellow newly minted librarian, Lisa Molson, plus my amazing spouse and family.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

mostly the bay area and California, but many others in the US and Canada.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility it allowed me to pursue my degree along with being a parent and working part-time.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

Two highlights were taking the History of Children's Literature with Professor Melba Tomeo and getting to work with and assist Professor Stephens with several of his classes.

I plan to use my degree to:

work as a librarian with an emphasis in youth and family services.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Putting my degree into action as a librarian and hopefully impacting the lives of others in a positive manner.
