The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation

PROFILE

Current residence: Los Angeles, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

After teaching and then working as a community college administrator for many years, I decided to follow my passion - books, learning, literacy - and work toward the MLIS degree so I could work closely with students and the public.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My wife set me on this path and supported me at every step towards this degree. She was and is my biggest supporter.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

Here in Los Angeles, as well as further away in Chicago, Florida, and New York.

What I liked best about online learning was:

Learning the technology required to complete the degree and navigating how to work with teachers and classmates in an online setting.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The variety of classes - I was able to take something significant form each class, whether it was a CSS class or the History of Books and Libraries class.

I plan to use my degree to:

Obtain a job in a college library. Or maybe a public library. Wait, perhaps a special library. As you can tell, I'm undecided...

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Digging into my work in a library setting, making connections with other librarians, and attending my first library conference.
