In 2012, I decided to pursue my Master’s degree in Library and Informational Science. By getting my masters I wanted to learn even more skills pertaining to the library field.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
First and foremost, my mom and dad were my number one cheerleaders! They have always been there for me. Along with my boyfriend Matt, my family, friends, and coworkers!
While in the program, I met classmates from:
I met classmates from all walks of life from all over the world.
What I liked best about online learning was:
The support I had from my teachers. Even though I live in Virginia, all of the teachers were easy to get in to touch with and were always willing to help.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
The variety of classes offered were my number one favorite part about my experience at SJSU School of Information.
I plan to use my degree to:
To continue to promote literacy for my community as the Youth Services Coordinator at the Galax-Carroll Regional Library in Virginia.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
With completing the program, I am looking forward most to advocating for every library user. This resonates deep down in me, along with having strong ethics, morals, and values pertaining to the freedom to read. Being a voice for those who do not know how to express themselves goes in hand in hand with being a librarian. Communicating and outreaching with community members is crucial to have a thriving, healthy, and successful library. I have been impressed with many activities that library’s create for their patrons. I feel like since then while pursuing my master that I am a helping hand to my community, not only to children, but to all generations. I truly care not only about the library and patrons, but how we connect to the community!
