The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2019

PROFILE

Current residence: Diamond Bar, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I felt like information was being forgotten and misunderstood. Teaching the public of all ages and from all cultures how to search for and use information was the challenge of a lifetime in our digital era.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My family and the staff at the library I currently work at taught me many great lessons. Also, unknowingly, the patrons the library and the public I interacted with helped with learning my lessons and competencies.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

Many were from different states and this encouraged me to visit sometime, so that we can meet and chat about our studies, interests, and lives.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility and importance of time management kept me on my toes. For group projects, learning to make time and communicate at a distance was important and a great tool/skill for future projects and collaborations.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The format of the program was geared towards the students. The interaction with the professors held my attention. And the many other students who excelled challenged me to exceed expectations. I learned how to become a student who was passionate about what I was studying.

I plan to use my degree to:

Engage, educate, and entertain the information seekers who knowingly and unknowingly seek my help. I'd like to re-educate the world about the importance of rare materials and how they impact our future despite being of the past.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Where my path leads me next.
