PROFILE
Current residence: Peoria, IL, US
I wanted to earn a masters degree because:
I was already a full time librarian, but I wanted to be the absolute best librarian, and I wanted to be able to advance to management positions in my career.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My husband, my mom and step-dad, my amazing colleagues at the Washington District Library, and every single friend who listened to me literally cry and told me I could do this. Not my cats though. They were jerks the whole time.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All over the United States and from a variety of different libraries. Most of them were in California though. I met people who live in Los Angeles who aren't celebrities. It was wild.
What I liked best about online learning was:
Doing homework and listening to lectures while in my pajamas and stuffing my face with pizza and cold Thai food.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
Dr. Mary Bolan and beginning cataloging - get this woman her own television show.
I plan to use my degree to:
The plan was to go into management, and I accomplished that this past August. I was hired as the Circulation and Tech Services Manager at the Washington District Library in Washington, IL. I love my library and my colleagues are the best - sorry 'bout it. That's just the truth. Other than that, smacking fake news/false information outta peoples' mouths. With love.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Sleeping when I feel like it, reading for fun, catching up on four years of television and movies, seeing people socially, taking a vacation, and working on making my library the most metal AF library in the great land of Lincoln.
