Dr. Sandra Hirsh
Director of the SJSU School of Information
Dear Graduates,
Every May we come together to celebrate your hard work, passion, and steadfast commitment to better our global communities. On May 19, 2020, we will hold our sixth virtual convocation celebration!
I am beyond thrilled to announce our invited convocation speaker this year is Julius C. Jefferson, Jr. from the Library of Congress and current American Library Association president –elect. I know he will share riveting words that will stay with you as you get ready to enter the profession and begin the next chapter of your lives. One of your peers will also deliver a speech. If history is any indicator, some tears may be shed, but all-in-all, a pure feeling of satisfaction will underscore the moment. I am very much looking forward to the speeches.
It’s the time of year I get to wear my graduation regalia. Every time I don the robe from my alma mater, memories of my graduation day flood back. Take a moment to breath it all in and feel the magnitude of what you have accomplished. It’s truly a momentous day that you will cherish for a lifetime.
I am especially proud to be able to call all of you iSchool alumni! You join thousands of alumni who are making information make a difference. I can’t wait to hear about all of the wonderful things you’ve got up your sleeve as you use your talents in the information profession.
Congratulations!
