PROFILE

Current residence: San Jose, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

As mentioned in my e-portfolio, I discovered through my paralegal studies classes that I enjoy research and the idea of being able to assist people in locating information regarding their personal or professional information needs.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My husband, family members, friends, fellow co-workers, library staff in various departments, clergy and fellow parishoners in my religious community. Your continuous encouragement and support has contributed to helping me get where I am now.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

Various parts of the state, country and from several parts of the world and who came to the ischool with different backgrounds and experiences.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The convenience of being able to learn course material through various instructional methods provided by the professors on the Canvas Learning Management system whether it is at home or work. In addition, I very much appreciated having accessibility to online databases through the Martin Luther King Library in which I was able to perform research at any time of the day or night without needing to drive to the university campus.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The ability to use my creativity and research skills in completing various assignments and projects assigned and the ability to share ideas with fellow students through blogs and discussion forums in Canvas.

I plan to use my degree to:

Search for positions in special, academic, and/or public libraries in which I can utilize my research skills in assisting students, faculty, or library users in locating information for their academic or personal information needs.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Updating my resume and searching for opportunities in which I can practice and further develop my research skills in academic, special or possibly public libraries in which I can gain experience in reference services before searching for a full-time position.
