The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2020

PROFILE

Current residence: San Francisco, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to increase the quality of service I provide in my work in libraries. In particular, I wanted to advance my skills in leadership and strategic service to marginalized communities.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

Library leadership and co-workers, my children, my mom, my dad, my siblings, my close friends.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All over the U.S., others from Canada, Latin America, England, France, and Ireland. I met people working in museums, libraries, the tech industry, schools, artists, social workers, biologists, stay at home moms and dads, and more.

What I liked best about online learning was:

That it gave me a chance to further my contribution in the field of librarianship, while juggling co-parenting and a full-time job in libraries.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

The high-quality and cutting edge instructors and instruction.

I plan to use my degree to:

Enhance the work the field of public librarianship is doing to serve marginalized communities.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Getting a librarian position, and increase my work in associations and special projects to advance service to marginalized communities.
