PROFILE

Current residence: Los Angeles, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I am passionate about serving diverse communities and using my skills to foster inclusive library spaces. As a first-generation college graduate, I want to use my background and experience to help other first-generation students find the support they need just as I have been helped.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My family, friends, and my wonderful colleagues colleagues at the Los Angeles Public Library. I am thankful to everyone who has given me support, advice, and encouragement throughout this program.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

various cities in Northern and Southern California, as well as other states.

What I liked best about online learning was:

the program's flexibility and diverse course offerings. I was able to complete my degree while working multiple jobs and enjoyed taking summer school courses. The online format made the degree affordable, accessible, and the best fit for me.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

How accessible faculty and iSchool staff are despite the remote nature of the program. I felt connected to my school through activen participation in our student chapters and our state library organization.

I plan to use my degree to:

provide bilingual services in the area of public librarianship, specifically young adult services or children's services.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

spending more time working on outside projects and continuing to seek opportunities to help others.
