PROFILE
Current residence: Carmichael, CA, US
I wanted to earn a masters degree because:
I began my path to a master’s degree when I was still at community college. I had been floundering about what path to set my feet upon and finally settled on Librarianship. Several helpful librarians pointed me in the direction of the master’s program, and six years later here I am a Master of Library and Information Science! I couldn’t be prouder!
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My family, significant other, and friends. Most importantly is that my mother deserves an honorary master’s degree for all the proofreading she did throughout my academic journey!
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All over the United States! It was a great pleasure to work with all my teammates throughout this program!
What I liked best about online learning was:
The flexibility afforded through this medium.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
The versatility in teaching styles from some great professors! In particular, I enjoyed the more technical, hands-on, creative activities in a number of my courses at iSchool. I found that I have an affinity for creating LibGuides, infographics, and other tools such as: survey design, informational videos, etc.
I plan to use my degree to:
It has long been my dream to become an academic librarian and help students develop skills such as information literacy and search techniques that will help them throughout their lives.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
First off, taking a much needed break! Secondly, setting my feet firmly on this new lifelong learning journey and finding my niche within our profession.
