The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2020

PROFILE

Current residence: Portland, OR, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

Once I decided on a library career, I knew I needed the MLIS to increase my chances of landing a professional librarian position.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My mother, Lulu Stroud; my sisters, Kelva Stroud and Tara Johnson; my supervisors and co-workers at the Williamsburg Regional Library, William & Mary Libraries, and the Oregon Health & Science University Library; the Virginia Library Association; and the ALA Spectrum Scholars. Special shout-outs to Christine White, Eletha Davis, Janet Crowther, Sandy Towers, Genevieve Owens, Betsy Fowler, Laura Morales, Georgie Donovan, Jean Sibley, Jan Elsasser, Tammie Brown, Laura Zeigen, and Basia Delawska-Elliott!

While in the program, I met classmates from:

All over the country!

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility so that I could complete my studies around my work schedule.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

Being able to take a variety of electives according to my interests.

I plan to use my degree to:

Pursue professional positions in librarianship.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

More free time!
