PROFILE

Current residence: INVERNESS, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to become a teacher-librarian in a dual immersion elementary school. I also want to consult with school districts.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My children Ez and LU and my friends who picked up the slack when I had to focus on my studies. My classmates at SJSU were also supporters. We worked together to get it done!

While in the program, I met classmates from:

Los Angeles, Danville, New York, all over! I hope to get to celebrate with Adair Spence when I finish. She's a high school librarian in the Bay Area.

What I liked best about online learning was:

The flexibility it afforded me. I live in a rural, coastal town. I even had to install a new internet service to be able to participate, but it was totally worth it.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

Making connections between the program and what I was currently doing as an elementary school librarian. I could apply knowledge right away and improve the program.

I plan to use my degree to:

Work as a children's librarian in the Marin County Free Library system.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

Taking some time to travel with my kids and begin to work with our local preschool to create family engagement/early literacy programs together.
