I want to return to a career I left many years ago and become a librarian. I've been in higher education for nine years, and while I love it, my heart is in librarianship.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My husband, colleagues, and friends were my biggest supporters during the last two and a half years. My final semester was filled with encouragement from others I met on social media. It was helpful to connect with classmates who were going through the same thing I was, and we encouraged one another towards the finish line. Professors who challenged me along the way: Beth Wrenn-Estes, Donald Westbrook, Kimberli Buckley, Debra Buenting, Jonathan Hunt, Anthony Chow, Patty Wong, and Michael Stephens.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All parts of California.
What I liked best about online learning was:
I could work at my own pace, during hours that worked best for my schedule.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
I appreciated the flexibility to take the classes that interested me most. I chose a pathway that focused on children's librarianship, but I also was able to take classes that would help in all areas of librarianship. I truly feel that I am well equipped to enter the library work field.
I plan to use my degree to:
An ultimate goal I have for employment would be to become a children's librarian. However, I think I'd also like to work in an academic library. This program has inspired me in many ways, so whatever I do, I'd like to take that inspiration and serve my community.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Finding a job!!! I'm also looking forward to having some free time, reading, catching up on new TV series, and having a weekend to myself. I'm excited for what the future holds!
