The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2021

PROFILE

Current residence: Los Angeles, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to not only further my education after completing my Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology in May 2018 at California State University, Northridge, but I also wanted to access new professional possibilities and opportunities that I could only access after first attending graduate school with the intent to cultivate a fulfilling career path for myself within the field of library and information science.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

my parents, various members of my extended family, my best friend, my friends, and my classmates who have grown into friends over the last two years and beyond as their love, support, and encouragement have been crucial to my personal and academic growth and achievements as a MLIS student and beyond. Without all of them, this goal would have been difficult to accomplish; so my gratitude is boundless and my love is endless for all of them.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

all over North America and beyond.

What I liked best about online learning was:

the often asynchronous structure and use of new and emerging technologies within and outside of the classroom.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

the breadth of courses offered that allowed students gain an informed and well-rounded perspective on the field of library and information science.

I plan to use my degree to:

act as an agent of change within the field of library and information science via putting the skills and knowledge I have cultivated as a MLIS student at SJSU into practice as they have established a strong foundation I will continue to build upon in the years to come; especially as the field adapts and changes to better serve our dynamic world in the midst of our ongoing global pandemic that continues to shape all of our lives, among other current events.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

celebrating with my family, friends, and peers ahead of remotely interning at the Law Library of Congress for the second time over the summer.
