Speaker: Debbie Faires
Title: Director of Online Learning

Debbie Faires serves as Director of Online Learning at San José State University’s School of Information. She earned her MLIS degree at SJSU and leads classes for faculty and students about teaching and learning in the online environment. Prior to her current administrative position, she worked in website management and taught classes about web technologies and effective facilitation of synchronous online sessions.







Speaker: Dr. Patricia C. Franks
Title: Professor and MARA Coordinator

Dr. Franks is coordinator of the Master of Archives and Records Administration (MARA) degree in the School of Information at San José State University. She is a Certified Archivist, Certified Records Manager, Information Governance Professional and Certified Information Governance Officer, as well as a member of ARMA International’s Company of Fellows. She is president elect of the National Association of Government Archivists and Records Administrators (NAGARA). Franks is co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Archival Science, the Encyclopedia of Archival Writers, 1515-2015, and the International Directory of National Archives. She is sole author of Records and Information Management now in its second edition. Her most recent publication, The Handbook of Archival Practice, will be released September first of this year. Her research interests lie in the area of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and blockchain distributed ledger technology, and their impact on records management and information governance.
