PROFILE
Current residence: Murfreesboro, TN, US
I wanted to earn a masters degree because:
Books have always been my love. In my undergraduate experience I created books in Book Arts. I also live to learn, so it was pretty obvious the next steps in my evolution.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
First and foremost is my family! My husband Jimmy has put up with my late nights, paper writing, and unusual requests. My mother Linda, has always been my cheerleader no matter what I do. My best friend Lindsay has sacrificed our precious time together so that I could study. And my coworkers have been amazing people to bounce ideas off of, help to make learned content applicable in the job, and supported me every step of the way.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
North Dakota, California, China, Australia, Illinois, Mexico, and Colorado just to name a few!
What I liked best about online learning was:
Working at my own pace was the best possible scenario in real life online learning situations. I was able to balance time between full-time work, getting married, visiting my mother, and having a life with the structure of going to school at home.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
The collaborative efforts of students across the world is an amazing concept. Their ability to demonstrate their own experiences in the Library and Information Science world was astounding. I learned as much from them as I did the instructors.
I plan to use my degree to:
Continue my current position at ProQuest as a Collection Development Analyst where my opportunities are endless in the company to move up.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Reading a book! Not that I didn't read before, but I have a stack of books I have been collecting over the years for leisure. I also miss making art, and now that my degree is final I can pick back up my creativity.
