PROFILE
Current residence: Coos Bay, OR, US
I wanted to earn a masters degree because:
It will give me more opportunities in the LIS field. The MLIS degree provides career advancement for me as a Youth Services Librarian.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My husband Daren and my daughter Amy were my biggest cheerleaders! They encouraged me to persevere and their faith in me gave me strength. My e-Port group was supportive, as were my classmates and camaraderie gals. I've met an amazing group of people!!
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All over the state of California, as well as Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, South Dakota, New Mexico, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey.
What I liked best about online learning was:
The freedom to do my coursework at various hours of the day gave me the ability to keep my full-time job while completing this program.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
Learning about the new and innovative resources, programs and services that are now available in libraries everywhere. It helped that many of my professors were so knowledgeable and engaging. Some of my classmates have become my lifelong friends, too.
I plan to use my degree to:
Pursue my dream job as a Youth Services Librarian. It may be in a public library, a private school, or a public school, I'm not exactly sure, but it will be working to provide quality programs and services for children and/or teens.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Relaxing and leisurely reading a mountain of YA novels for a while! I'm looking forward to see what job opportunities are available for me in the near future.
