I have always loved learning and exploring the worlds within the pages of a book. I wanted to be able to help children and fellow learners discover those worlds and embrace the lessons life has to offer, and I felt that earning my Masters was certainly a step in the right direction.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My incredibly patient husband who has dealt with endless paper reviews, discussion post edits, and a few tears now and then. My loving family who served as the best cheerleaders I could ask for from day one. And of course, a special shout-out to my dogs, Lucy & Beesly, who sat on my feet during countless hours of online lectures and reading assignments.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
Around the world and all walks of life.
What I liked best about online learning was:
The ability to balance work, life, and schooling on my own time frame. This taught me how to manage my time sufficiently and successfully. I also won't complain about the acceptability of wearing pajamas to class.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
Learning about emerging technologies and new trends in libraries. It's important to keep a finger on the pulse of what keeps libraries not just relevant, but essential.
I plan to use my degree to:
Better serve the library community, and instill a love of reading in children that can be fostered for the rest of their lives.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Being able to read a book without an assignment attached to it!
