It’s been a life goal for many years. Once I learned about the online MLIS program I knew it was exactly the right fit. I have endless curiosity and find so much joy in research, discovery, and exploration of all forms of resources. My love is visual resources, specifically art-related. However, I do not limit myself! I have so many interests and look forward to continuing to learn within library and Information science job positions, conferences, workshops, independent research and from peers.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My Mom, Stepfather, and Child.
While in the program, I met classmates from:
All over the world!
What I liked best about online learning was:
The flexibility and amazing professors from top universities.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:
There is so much. I was fascinated by Incunabula, especially notations in ancient books by students or other book owners. I loved my special libraries and visual resources courses, and my archives and preservation courses were incredible. I hope to dive deeper into these areas. Also, metadata was fun!
I plan to use my degree to:
To work in a special library, art archives, and/or academic library. Of course I am open to exploring other options as well. I’ve learned so much and am pleased with the variety of options available with this degree.<br />

Ultimately, on a personal level, I am excited to work in a position where I am able to make positive contributions to communities as a means of enhancing people’s lives.
Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:
Working and building professional connections and friendships. I’m older and this is a big career change. I’m hoping to find an institution where I can stay and grow until retirement.
Debbie Faires: Gaea, congratulations to you!
