PROFILE

Current residence: Roseville, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I highly value education and I wanted the chance to learn about and use innovative technologies in the field. To work in a library, museum, or archive, it it necessary to have an advanced degree.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My husband Nathan, my sons Akira and Kenji, my mom Lera, and my niece Emily were essential to my success. They were always there to support and encourage me when I needed it most.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

I met amazing people with various backgrounds and experience. I enjoyed talking with them about their library jobs and how they were applying their learning to real-world scenarios.

What I liked best about online learning was:

I am pleased with the flexibility and consistency of the program. All my professors were well organized and available whenever I had questions.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

When I started at SJSU, I was not sure what direction I wanted to go with this degree. I was able to take classes that introduced me to a new line of work and I gained new possibilities for my career. I only wish I could have taken more classes!

I plan to use my degree to:

I plan is to be an archivist or museum educator. I love processing collections and creating exhibits because I truly believe that information is meant for sharing. Teaching is a part of who I am and even though I am moving in a new direction, educating children and adults will always be important to me.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

I am excited to start gaining valuable experience that will get me to my goal of being an archivist/museum educator.
