The degree of

Master of Library and Information Science

Virtual Convocation
2021

PROFILE

Current residence: Walnut Creek, CA, US

I wanted to earn a masters degree because:

I wanted to expand my career opportunities in library and information science. After earning undergraduate degrees in sociology and library technology, I valued the skills I gained in research. By earning my MLIS, I have the opportunity to become an academic librarian.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

my parents, my extended family, and friends. Thank you so much for believing in me and supporting me as I worked to earn my MLIS! It was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life, and I wouldn't have been able to achieve it without their support.

While in the program, I met classmates from:

all across the United States and around the world.

What I liked best about online learning was:

the ability to earn my MLIS while working at my own pace. It improved my ability to manage time, develop online communication skills, and utilize tools useful in emerging technology.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at the SJSU School of Information was:

the multitude of courses I was able to take throughout the program. Particularly, Library Services and Tools for the Digital Age and The Hyperlinked Library. I have culminated a vast amount of knowledge and skills during my time in the MLIS program that I am immensely proud of.

I plan to use my degree to:

become an academic librarian. I'm excited to use my knowledge and expertise to serve students, staff, and faculty. I'm also looking forward to exploring current and future trends in academic libraries through my own research and writing.

Now that I have completed the program, I'm most looking forward to:

having more time to relax and applying the knowledge I have gained in my professional career.
